My very very talented and amazing friend Mrs. Melissa Shakira (yes that might be her real name) took these awesome pictures of our little lady on her birthday weekend. Not only did she let us deck out her yard in pink and yellow but used her fancy schmancy real camera to snap some photos. We love you Tia Shak! Next time we’ll make sure it’s an ICE CREAM cake to share 🙂 I also want to mention my inspiration for this display comes from the beautiful tassle hung in the background. It was gifted to us by our friend Lizelly of LizzyBLoves. She creates beautiful invitations and artwork, be sure to check her out. Thank you Lizelly!
Other than feeling like an emotional tornado coming up on Lucia’s 1st birthday, I’d say we celebrated pretty well! It’s always been a kind of regret that I didn’t take many high quality photos of our brand new baby girl during those early weeks. I wanted to make sure we marked the moment of her 1st year in a special and fun way.
Last year, I wanted to roll my eyes every time someone warned me about how fast time passes when you have a kid. Hmm…A year is a year right? Time doesn’t bend or speed up on it’s own. But, you guys IT DOES. 🙁 In a mind blowing ‘wait you where just a cute squishy potato and then I turned around to see a tiny dancing toddler-person who loves Justin Bieber and swiping at smartphones’ kind of way.
I am reliving this time a year ago, remembering labor staring on a Thursday night and ending on a Saturday afternoon. Feeling beyond excited to reach the END of pregnancy. Remembering a tough and very LONG labor, the nurses who took care of us, and wanting to prove to my doctor that I could deliver her naturally. After 3 hours of pushing, I held my little squished faced potato in my arms and I’ve never let go. She’s perfect!
“This is all for me? No sharesies right?”
This face says…”I may have made a huge mistake.”
I’m so grateful for this little turkey who has completed our home. Who has made us feel most connected to what’s really important. I’m also grateful for friends who’ve turned into family over the past year. For sharing their home and time with us on such a special day.
